Ms. Heng was born in Cambodia in 1972.  In 1975, her family and the rest of the Cambodian nation were "evacuated" to the jungle and forced to work from dawn to dusk by the Khmer Rouge and it's zealous leader Pol Pot.  Ms. Heng endured starvation, cruelty, and witnessed death at a very early age.  These places are now known as the Killing Fields.  When the Vietnamese invaded Cambodia in 1979, Ms. Heng and her family were able to flee from Cambodia through minefields and swamps into Thailand.  Once in Thailand, her father submitted an application to the United Nations, hoping to immigrated.  After Several years, the family was selected by lottery to leave for Burma.  It was the happiest day of their lives.  Her family stayed there for a year until another lottery sent the family to Indonesia.  Within another year, the family was allowed to come to the United States. She put herself through college and graduated with a Master's Degree in Political Science. Ms. Heng now works at Miller United Insurance Brokerage, INC. as a the Director of Marketing and teaches Martial Arts at the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach in the evening.  The Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach is the Positive Place for kids.
